Holy Family Community,
Today, after obtaining further information from the office of Governor Polis and consulting with the Archdiocese, we have determined that we must keep our Distance Learning program in place for the last 5 weeks of the 2019-2020 school year.
We all know the reasons for this, but that doesn't lessen the emotions of making this difficult decision. I am inspired by our students, our families, and our passionate faculty. Holy Family High School is more than a building. We are a strong community made up of people of faith. I encourage you to stay connected with each other. We all face struggles as we navigate this situation - be there for each other, lift up your friends, and join together in prayer.
I know there are many questions surrounding events such as Graduation, Prom, and Baccalaureate. We are working diligently to come up with a plan for all of these special events. Know that I am committed to holding some form of an in-person graduation event for our senior class.
CHSAA today officially canceled the 2020 spring sports season. I know this is upsetting to many of you as nearly 50% of our student body is involved in a spring sport.
We have been gathering information on the various fees our families have incurred for school events that have been canceled. Namely fees for: spring sports, musical costumes, Kairos, and the Senior Retreat.
As we try to balance fiscally responsibility while being mindful of our families - especially those experiencing financial hardship during this pandemic - we have adopted the following policy:
-In the case of graduating seniors: If a graduating senior has a younger sibling at Holy Family, we can apply the fees paid for canceled events to the younger sibling's 2020-21 tuition. If the graduating senior has no younger sibling at Holy Family, we will issue a refund for any fees paid for canceled events.
-For returning students, we can apply the fees already paid for canceled events - or any future canceled events - to your 2020-21 tuition.
-Refunds for fees paid for canceled events are also available in circumstances of financial hardship - please contact Rhiannon Baldivia, Rhiannon.Baldivia@holyfamilyhs.com, in the Business Office if this applies to your family.
The health and safety of our students has been at the forefront of our decision making from the beginning of this pandemic. As I mentioned earlier, we all face struggles during this time - some more than others. The Counseling Department is here for our students via email during school hours. Students shouldn't hesitate to reach out to them if they have any questions or concerns. The three school counselors divide workload by student's last name.
Jeff Gonsalves-McCabe: last names A-G
Lisa Doroff: last names H-N
Dan Hahn: last names O-Z
In addition, our three college counselors - Will Wilson, Jacqueline Phillips, and Kelly Fabian - are continuing to work with our juniors and seniors.
Thank you for your patience as we work through the many aspects of school functions that are impacted by our current situation. Continue to pray for the health and safety of our community. We will get through this difficult time.
